Let me just say, you can podcast ON A BUDGET! You don't need an SM7B when you're getting started. Having been podcasting since March of 2023, I still don't think I need a $400 mic. At the same time, I really want my audio quality to be top notch! I did a ton of research into various dynamic microphones and landed on the Maono PD400X which usually runs around $150! It has great audio quality, build quality, and it's packed with cool XLR/USB features that allow me to take the show on the road if I need to. Looking to take your audio quality to the next level without breaking the bank? Check this mic out!
This is another item that not everyone needs but really streamlines my podcast production! I want to be able to cue intro/outro music, make software MIDI controls, have guests on the show, and have a great audio interface with audio processing built in, and the RØDECaster Duo does it all! This was another item that I shopped long and hard for wanting to make the right decision on which audio interface to purchase. There are other great mixers out there but the RØDECaster has a lot of features that fit what I need! It is by far the most expensive piece of equipment in my setup but it was a long-term investment that has already proven it's worth!
These IEMs are a very affordable option but don't let their price deceive you! For around $30, the audio quality is great, they fit well, and they're comfortable to wear! The low-profile look works well for me and the video episodes I produce! If you're shopping for an in ear monitor, I'd definitely give these a closer look!
While the audio that is heard may be a little different person to person, I want to make sure that everything sounds good on my end while recording and during post-production editing. These headphones are comfortable and have great audio quality ... and they look pretty nice too! They help ensure that everything sounds as good as possible before publishing. They fold up nicely into a small carry bag and the passive noise cancelling is decent, which makes them great for traveling!
If you'd like to spend money on software, there's definitely some options out there! I find that for my needs along with the equipment I have, I don't need anything more than the free software that you can go download right now! Links to Audacity, OBS, and GIMP are below.
